Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are essential for most people working in the nursing field, not only to renew certification but also to stay up-to-date with the ever-changing world of nursing. Our classes will enrich your knowledge, and they will help you perform your work as a nursing assistant more efficiently.

Renewing your
CNA / HHA is easy:
- Complete your In-Service/CEU hours, total of 48 hours in the last 2 years.
- Fill out the CDPH 283C (PDF) form AND The CNA/HHA CEU/In-service CDPH 283A (PDF)
- Submit your 48 hours along with your Renewal Application via mail or email.

RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS:
A. CNA Renewal:
In-Service/CEUs:
CNAs must successfully complete and include documentation of forty-eight (48) hours of In-Service Training/Continuing Education Units (CEUs) during the most recent certification period (last 2 years). A minimum of twelve (12) of the forty-eight (48) hours must be completed in each year of your two (2) year certification period.
Work Experience:
Document at least 8 hours of paid work as a CNA (in a hospital, convalescent, or hospice agency) within the past two years.
Note: CNA applicants who do not complete one (1) or both requirements listed above must re-take both the skills and written portion of the Competency Evaluation (exam) to re-activate the nurse assistant certificate.
B. HHA Renewal:
In-Service/CEUs:
HHAs must complete and include documentation of twenty-four (24) hours of In-Service Training/Continuing Education Units (CEUs) during the most recent certification period (last 2 years). Twelve (12) of the twenty-four (24) hours must be completed in each year of my two (2) year certification period. (CHHAs may not complete online CEUs).
Work Experience:
Document at least 8 hours of paid work as a CHHA (in a hospice or home health agency) within the past two years.
