This is a 40-hour training designed to improve the skills of those individuals who are already certified nursing assistants CNAs in providing personal care services to residents in their homes. The program requires 20 hours of theory instruction and 20 hours of clinical training in private homes or long-term care facilities.

Certified Home Health Aide Training Program – 120 Hours
Program Description
This 120-hour (3-weeks) theory and clinical training course program is for those candidates who want to become certified as a Home Health Aide without taking the certified nursing assistant CNA training first.
Theory classes will be held in the classroom, and clinical hours will be at the contracted training facilities and laboratory.
At the end of the Home Health Aide training program, students will be able to understand the role of a certified Home Health Aide and function in Home Health agencies. They will learn how to provide services to patients in their homes, understand the medical and social needs of the people being served, and enhance their skills in personal care, cleaning, nutrition, and home care tasks.

A Certified Home Health Aide Certificate is issued by the Department of Public Health CDPH to those who have completed the course.
